Mission 180

There is an organization here in Champaign County called Mission 180.  Mission 180 is a not-for-profit organization that helps at-risk youth through faith-based mentoring and counseling.  The man behind the small outfit is Jeff Hunt and I’ve come to know him through his visits to the Detention Center (where I work) where he comes twice a week to run programming with our detained youth.  In the community, Mission 180 runs weekly basketball games on Friday nights, gatherings in the neighborhoods that the kids live in, weekend trips, an annual camping trip to the Grand Canyon, and other positive activities.  Additionally, with the help of a team of trained volunteers, one-on-one mentoring is provided.

I can tell you from my own experiences that not everyone has a big of a heart as Jeff or his passion for helping at-risk youth.  I have seen the amazing, positive impact that Jeff and Mission 180 have on the youth at the Detention Center and have seen some of the success stories play out for myself.  As with many organizations these days, Mission 180 is struggling financially at the moment.  The organization depends entirely on contributions from businesses, churches, and individuals to accomplish it’s goals.  That said, below you will find a link to Mission 180’s website and another to their PayPal donation site.  I know that times are tight for many people but if you happen to be in the fortunate lot that have a little extra for charitable donations, please consider this organization for your generosity.  Mission 180 runs off of only a $5000/month budget in it’s entirety, so every little bit goes a long way.  Thanks for reading through this and for even considering making a donation.
